It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Pedro R. Avelar in San Antonio, Texas, who passed away on July 24, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph Avelar, Sr. and Cruz Avelar; his siblings, Maria Theresa, Edward Avelar and Rudolph Avelar, Jr.; his siblings-in-law, Isaac Martinez, Rosario Avelar and Rosalinda Avelar; and his niece Cynthia Martinez.
He is survived by: his brothers, Lawrence Avelar (Bartolo Galvan) and Andrew Avelar. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews, and one great-grandniece.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Angelus Chapel (1119 N St Mary's St, San Antonio, TX 78215). A rosary will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church (700 Dewhurst Rd, San Antonio, TX 78213). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 1:45 PM at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209).
