He was predeceased by: his parents, Juanita Ellison and William Clifford McKinley; and his brother Michael Ellison. He is survived by: his wife Leticia Thorns; his children, Brandon (Maria) and Kimberly (Tadswell); his grandchildren, Niya and Zoey; his siblings, Kathy Jackson, Sherry Moore, Patricia Brown, Nita K. McKinley, Patrick McKinley, Clifford McKinley and William McKinley (Jeff); and his close friends, JoAnn Ross, Kim McDonald, Kelly Burton and Oran Perryman. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
