With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Robert L. Thurston (San Antonio, Texas), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 5, 2025 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Thurston and Virginia Thurston. He is survived by: his wife Emma Thurston; his children, Catherine Lee (John), Joy Thurston-Cook (Tybor) and Robert Thurston Jr.; his siblings, Gaila Schultze (Karl) and Terry N. Thurston; and his grandsons, Chase Lee and Van Cook. He is also survived by Brother-in-Laws, Sister-in-Laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mission Park Funeral Chapels South (1700 SE Military Dr, San Antonio, TX 78214). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the same location. A procession will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 11:15 AM at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the American Legion Post #38.
