He was predeceased by: his parents, Juan Castaneda and Teodora Castaneda (Arriola); his son Raoul Castaneda; and his siblings, Juan, Frank, Alfredo, David Castaneda, Adela Flores, Ester Gonzales, Elvira Castaneda and Amelia Castaneda.
He is survived by: his wife Santos G. Castaneda of Beeville; his children, Martha DelBosque (Gilbert) of Beeville, Laura Castaneda of Beeville, Joel Castaneda (Sandy) of Beeville, Rene Castaneda of Beeville and Juan Javier Castaneda (Sheila) of Houston; his sister Maria Casarez of Beeville; his grandsons, John Thomas Amador (J. T.), Eric Castaneda, Nathan Castaneda, Thomas Lee Coffeen and Mathew Coffeen; his stepgrandson Joshua Puerta; his granddaughters, Priscilla Suarez, Kimberly McInnis, Rosalia Castaneda and Christiella Castaneda; and his stepgranddaughter Kristen Ramirez. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
