He was predeceased by : his parents, Francisco Nuñez and Emeteria Nuñez (Salas); and his siblings, Felipe Nuñez Sr., Israel Nuñez, Idelfonso S. Nuñez Sr. (Poncho), Francisco "Pancho" Nunez, Emeteria Garcia and Emelia Chapa.

He is survived by : his parents-in-law, Jesus Valerio and Anita Verdin Valerio; his wife Maria Nunez of San Diego, Texas; his children, Ruben Nunez Jr. (Sandra), Ray Nunez (Leticia), Rolando Nunez (Brenda), Roel Nunez (Monica), Richard Nunez (Lilly) and Rumaldo Nunez (Virginia); and his brother Raul Nunez (Rosie) of Corpus Christi, Texas. He is also survived by his family and friends.
