“My condolences go out to the family of this fine gentleman. Mr. Putney was my Aeronautics teacher at Skyline High School in Dallas from 1980 to 1982. I wasn't the model student when I first met him. He literally changed my life through his support, encouragement and inspiration. I have had a long career in aviation solely because I had the good fortune of landing in his class so many years ago. I owe him a debt of gratitude that I cannot repay. Thank you, Mr. Putney!”
