It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Benjamin Avila Sr. of San Juan, Texas, who passed away on June 12, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his former wife Francisca Reyes Avila; his son Roberto Avila; his grandchildren, Mario Jesus Yarrito and Gabriela Avila; and his parents, Jesus Avila and Juana Avila.
He is survived by: his wife Margarita Avila; his children, Rosaura, Maria Teresa Yarrito (Mario), Rebecca Trujillo (Enrique), Maribel Romero (Gerardo), Elisa Torres (Santiago, Jr.), Graciela Avila Martinez (Noe) and Benjamin Avila, Jr. (Kathleen); and his daughter-in-law Martha Avila. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Memorial Funeral Home - San Juan (311 E Expressway 83, San Juan, TX 78589). A rosary will be held on Monday, June 16th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish (216 W 1st St, San Juan, TX 78589). A burial will be held on Tuesday, June 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Palm Valley Memorial Gardens (4607 N Sugar Rd, Pharr, TX 78577).
