He was predeceased by : his parents, Sadie Ragsdale and Roy Ragsdale; and his sisters, Oleta Connors and Nettie. He is survived by : his wife Naomi; his sons, Lee (Deborah Ragsdale) and Elizar (Robin Mata); his granddaughters, Hollee Ragsdale, Macey and Meredith Mata; his brother James "Red" Ragsdale of Hurst, Texas; and his nephew John Carpenter of San Saba. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
