Herman Schulz wrote a sympathy message

“Louis was my dearest friend. I met him in the old coffee shop not long after I move to San Saba. He sat with Larry Shivner at a table across from me. I was reading material from domestic violence conference I had attended in Dallas. Louis would lean toward Larry, whisper to him and Larry would ask me whatever Louis had whispered. They ended up inviting me to sit with them and we became fast friends and invited me to join their morning coffee group at the doughnut shop. They all called me Red because of my red hair. The only surviving member is Eddie Campbell. When Louis broke his hip I volunteered to take care of him for the night shift not because I knew anything about nursing but because I wanted him to be taken care of and safe. Oh how we laughed and had amazing conversations...even if I did have to watch more basketball than ever I wanted to. I couldn't wake him up one day, Kevin Barclift showed up and then the ambulance and I thought Louis would be so mad at me but he was so gracious and understood. Thank you Louis for showing up to the open house I had 2 hours before it began when I thought no one would even bother to show up at all, for being my dearest friend, for respecting my intelligence, but most of all for being my dear friend. I will always remember you and love you with all my heart! Lindy Schulz”
