He was predeceased by: his mother Santiaga Tovar Velasquez; his son Pete Velasquez; and his siblings, Mike Velasquez, Augustine Velasquez and Pauline Tober.

He is survived by: his father Jose Velasquez; his daughters, Adela Zarate, Rose Futterknecht, Christine Jones and Susan Banks; and his nieces, Teresa Diaz and Anita Castillo. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
