It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Calhoun Sr. of Smithville, Texas, who passed away on November 15, 2021, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Bertha Estelle Green Calhoun and George Edwin Calhoun, Sr.; his sons, Willie and Charles; his wife Annie Marie; his children, Shorty and Barbara Ellis; his grandchildren, Marty Calhoun and Leeanna Grange; and his siblings, Verna Morgan, Maggie Lambert of Henry Calhoun, J. C, Roy Calhoun, Ray Calhoun, George Edwin Calhoun, Martha Scheumack, Oramae Defebrio, Dan Calhoun, Clarence Calhoun and Verdie Pringle.

He is survived by : his sons, John Jr., Raymond Calhoun of Buchanan Dam and Marcus Calhoun of Manor; and his sister Marjorie Benner of Georgetown. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
