We are sad to announce that on October 27, 2023, at the age of 88, George Ray Gortney in Sugar Land, Texas, born in Simms, Texas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his wife Clarice; his parents, George W Gortney and Mae Gortney; and his siblings, Charles Gortney and Ruby Lee Schneider.

He is survived by: his sons, Danny Ray Gortney (Jennifer) and George Timothy Gortney (Vivian); his grandchildren, Brook Taunton (Erik), Brian Scherr (Helena), Michael Ludwig (Brittney), Jessica Roberts (Ethan) and Heather Woodul (Corey); and his sibling Johnnie Helen Allen. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren.
