He was predeceased by: his parents, Carter Sims, Sr. and Allie Washington Sims; his significant other Betty Yarbrough; his children, Joseph Mason and Marilyn Evans; and his siblings, Omergene Sims, Vada Alexander, Darlene Horton, Tom Sims, Charlie Sims (Bill), Arvis Wayne Sims, James Sims and Bobby Sims.
He is survived by: his uncle Tot; his children, Francine Hall, Donald Hall of Sulphur Springs, Texas., Rodney Hall (Regina) of Sulphur Springs, Texas., Cody Williams (Kemia) of Sulphur Springs, Texas., Mae Jean Yarbrough, Charles Yarbrough, James Yarbrough and Robert Hawkins; and his sisters, Arlene Williams of Sulphur Springs, Texas. and Peggy White of Sulphur Springs, Texas.. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church (208 Fuller St, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482). A burial was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at the East Caney Cemetery (401 Co Rd 3345, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482).
