She was predeceased by: her parents, Truman Gulledge and Vivian Gulledge (Scott); her husband James Newkirk; her daughters, Juanza George, Cheryl Morris and Stacey Howk; her grandson John Allen Morris; and her brother Thomas Gulledge.
She is survived by: her children, Erica Vaughn of Waianae, Hawaii and Walter Newkirk of Sulphur Springs, Texas. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
