He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse James and Trula James; and his brother Timothy James. He is survived by: his wife Ange James; his sister Donna Whitley (Arthur) of Tahoka; his children, Brian James of O'Donnell, Melissa McCleskey (Aaron) of Tahoka, Britt James of Norman, Cameron Childress (Kim) of Lubbock and Amanda Stidham (Courtney) of O'Donnell; his daughter-in-law Brooke James of O'Donnell; his grandchildren, Skyler Williams (Brandon), Blake McCleskey (Madie), Kale James, Emilee Decker (Caelan), Hannah Strange (Krese), Haden Childress (Hannah), Logan James, Hadlee Childress (Reagan Wells), Everett Stidham, Karrigan James, Bek McCleskey and Kasen James; and his great grandchildren, Hendrix Decker, Teddy Decker, Truett Strange, Beckham Childress, Remington Wells and Evie J McCleskey.
Alton's legacy will be remembered not only through his family but also through his contributions to the community and his deep connection to Grace Community Church, where he was a proud member.
