With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Gene (Brooks) Kelly (Temple, Texas), born in Lyons, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 15, 2025 at the age of 55. She was predeceased by: her parents, Vergia Faye Barrett Brooks and Richard Lee Brooks; her grandparents, Carrie Barrett, Versa Davis and Lee Marion Brooks; her brother James Brooks; and her aunts and uncles, Wanda Collins, Ruth Steele, Gloria Hines, Carolyn Woodfork, Loretta Ellis, Charles Booker, James Billy Booker, Larry Barrett, Marvin Barrett, Anthony Woodfork, Leonard Davis, Terry Davis, Katie Davis, Beatrice Davis and Earnest Nix Jr..
She is survived by: her husband Derek Kelly; her children, Jon'Nisha Cooper and La'Kendrick Cooper; her grandchild Emani Johnson-Cooper; her siblings, Charles Samuel Barrett (Daphnee), Lee Marion Brooks (Brandee), Christopher Lee Brooks (April) and Gwendolyn McGregor; her aunts and uncles, Donell Barrett Woodfork (Carl), Danny Woodfork and Annie Horsby; her siblings' children, Kaylyn Lee Brooks, Haylee Nicolle Brooks, Faithlyn Verchell Brooks and Kyle Lee Brooks; and her great-nephew Raiden Galicia.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church (173 Farm to Market Rd 60, Somerville, TX 77879). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
