It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Louise Waunell Shumate of Temple, Texas, who passed away on April 13, 2024, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Hershel Laney and Nell Bruner Laney; her husband J. R. Shumate; her son Ricki; her grandson Silas Martin; and her brothers, Omer Lee, Dick, Junior and Lewis.

She is survived by : her siblings, Robert, Waunita Jones (Eldon) and Wanda Hand; her children, Joel Shumate (Wilna) and Barbara Gove (Gary); her grandsons, Mickey Miller, Seth Martin and Ryan Shumate; and her great grandchildren, Halle, Bryden, Caiden, Kaige, Kas Martin, Reed, Rylan McClure, Carson and Cash Shumate.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Memorial Baptist Church (6161 S 5th St, Temple, TX 76502). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, she asked that gifts be given to the mission's fund at Memorial Baptist Church.
