In loving memory of Shands Bassett (Temple, Texas), who departed this world on July 19, 2025 at the age of 95. Shands leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Sydney Carl and Edna Mae Bassett; and his sister Henrietta Elizabeth Bassett. He is survived by: his wife Madalyn Preston; his children, Lynette Spivey (Steve), Nancy Eaton (Brent) and James Bassett (Amy); and his grandchildren, Kathryn Gabhart (Jason), Scott Spivey (Brandy), Aaron Eaton (Becca), Meredith McAfee (Daniel), Amber Bassett (Austin Sims) and Rachel Laubrich (Caleb).

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (8015 W Adams Ave, Temple, TX 76502).

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the music ministry at FBC of Temple.
