He was predeceased by : his parents, John Quincey and Thelma Lynn Richey; his siblings, Wallace Howard Richey, Charles Richey Johnny Richey, Judell Richey Farmer, Ruby Pearline Richey and Ella Richey Miller; and his son Travis Richey of Houston Texas.

He is survived by : his wife Elizabeth Ann Richey (Beth); and his children, Cary James Richey, Sandra Broker and Sharon (Kevin McNeil). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
