He was predeceased by : his parents, James J. Lanier and Anna Davis Lanier; his siblings, Hazel Lanier and Alford Lanier; and his great-nephew Travis Richey.

He is survived by : his sister Vera Gaddis of Tennessee Colony; his niece Beth Richey (James) of Tennessee Colony; his nephew James Gaddis (Elizabeth) of Franklinton, LA; and his great-nephew Westley Gaddis of Harvey. He is also survived by numerous cousins, family and friends.
