He was predeceased by : his parents, Francisco Barrera Sr. and Anastacia Martinez-Barrera; and his siblings, Alonzo, Gilberto, Armando Barrera, Lelia Barrera Guerra and Elsa Perales.

He is survived by : his wife Rosalinda Olivarez Barrera; his children, Francisco Barrera III of Uvalde, Eloy (Lorena Barrera) of Uvalde, Alonzo Barrera of Uvalde, Bobby Joe (Jennifer Barrera) of Uvalde, Billy Joe Barrera of Uvalde, Harley Leal of Uvalde, Sandra (Gilbert Barrera) of Uvalde, Haylie Leal of Uvalde, Selena Barrera of Uvalde and Elvira Rangel (Jose Sotelo) of Beeville; and his brothers, Antonio Barrera Sr. of Hereford and Fortino Garza of Hereford. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren 25 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Hillcrest Memorial Funeral Home (424 Geraldine St, Uvalde, TX 78801). A rosary was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
