He was predeceased by : his wife Linda Kirkland; his son James H. Kirkland IV; his granddaughter Kristen Kirkland; and his brother Terry "Dusty" Kirkland. He is survived by : his children, Michelle Mooney (Lane) of Vidor, TX, Keith Kirkland of Vidor, TX and Kevin Kirkland Sr. of Vidor, TX.; his grandchildren, Marshall Mooney, Matthew Mooney, Ashley Fronzaglio, James Kirkland, Keith Allen Kirkland Jr., Breanna Kirkland, Kevin Kirkland Jr. and Raegan Kirkland; his girlfriend Brenda Burton; and his partner's children, Linkyn Arabie and Kora Guidroz. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor (1750 TX-12, Vidor, TX 77662).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Autism Speaks, Donations Processing Center, Autism Speaks, P.O. Box 37148, Boone, IA 50037-0148, in honor of Sandy's compassionate spirit and dedication to supporting meaningful causes.
