He was predeceased by : his parents, Carl William Wetterman and Nina Inez Wilburn; his wife Carolyn Jean Wetterman; his daughters, Nina Wetterman, Debbie Wetterman and Carla McCurdy; and his brother Don Wetterman.

He is survived by : his brother Wayne Wetterman of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Josh McCurdy (Becky Walker) of Bellmead, Amanda Tippie (Jud Tippie) of China Spring and Tommy McCurdy (Tamara McCurdy) of Waco; and his great grandchildren, Maddison McCurdy, Landon Tippie, Aidan Tippie, Avery Tippie, Brenden McCurdy and Emily McCurdy.
