She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert Key and Annie Key (Brazelton); her husband Donald Skains; her children, Kerry Skains Fest and Roger Skains; and her siblings, Jean Rejeck and Rudy Key.

She is survived by: her children, Belynda Mize (Darrel), Timothy Skains, Theda Skains and Nolan Skains (Mindy); her grandchildren, Lance, Timothy Jr., Hayden, Kacey, Nicole, Logan, Braeden, Nick, Chad, Shannon, Shane and Miranda; and her niece Kathy. She is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
