He was predeceased by : his parents, Owen Odis Skidmore (Wheeler) and Lena May Affentranger Skidmore; his former life partner Myrtle Gardner; his children, Jewell Annette, Barbra Darlene and John Henry Jr.; and his stepsons, Donald Mathews and Jeffery Scottie Heird.
He is survived by : his wife Mary Lou; his daughter Shirley Skidmore of Grand Junction, CO.; his stepdaughters, Tami Barnett (Willie) of North Carolina and Fawn Kendrick of Cortez, CO; and his sisters, Dora Winters (Leroy) of Farmington, N. M. and Margie Spruell of Pampa, TX..
