She was predeceased by: her parents, James Knight Jr. and Elizabeth Knight; and her former husbands, John Barnes and Jimmy Whitney. She is survived by: her brothers, James Knight III (Mona) and John Knight (Terri); her children, Meredith Jaquay (Joel), John Barnes II, Brian Whitney (Diane) and Elizabeth Jezisek (Taylor); and her grandchildren, Katie Watts, Chad Watts, Gleason Whitney, Tyler Jezisek and Gibson Jezisek. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, numerous other relatives and friends, and the thousands of children.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home - Willis (10129 FM 1097, Willis, TX 77318). A burial will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 at the New Montgomery Cemetery.
In honor of Joan's lifelong commitment to her students, the family asks that donations be made, to school lunch funds—a cause close to her heart.
