She was predeceased by: her parents, Epifanio Zapata and Clara Zapata (Barela); her son Ruben Cortez; her siblings, Mario, Luis, Domingo Zapata and Isabel Chavez; and her son-in-law James "Jimmy" Richey.
She is survived by: her husband Santos Cortez; her children, Santos Cortez, Jr. of Dallas, Robert Cortez, Christina Cortez Richey of Lubbock, David Cortez, Margaret Rodriguez (Armando) and Teresa Cortez; her grandchildren, Jeremy Cortez, Stephen Cortez of Dallas, Amanda Garcia (Abel), Alex Cortez (Stefanie), Brandon Parker (Caitlin), Matthew Rodriguez, Isaac Rodriguez, Madelynn Stewart, Tatum Stewart, David Lee Cortez and Devin Cortez; her sisters, Juanita Garcia, Cecilia Aguirre, Andrea Vidaurre and Benita Zapata; and her sister-in-law Fina Zapata. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
