He was predeceased by : his parents, Arnold Dean and Emma Latham Dean; and his siblings-in-law, Roger Carter, Jerry Carter and Shelly Dean.

He is survived by : his son Shannon Dean (Cher) of Jersey City; and his siblings, Michael Dean (Kathy) of Section, Kevin Dean, Gaylen Dean (Nina) of Skyline, Alabama, Pat Carter of Hazel Green, Brenda Carter of Scottsboro and Teresa Gilliland (Gary) of Gracey, Kentucky. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
