He was predeceased by: his parents, Elton Laurence and Edna May Hamblin (Higley); his wife Bonnie; his siblings, Roland and Joanne; and his grandson Jerry.

He is survived by: his siblings, Carl (Joyce) and Susan Nye (Gary); and his sons, Rick (Marilyn), Cary (JoAnne), Kirk (Cindy), Clair (Karen), Doug (Barbara) and Darren (Melanie). He is also survived by 31 Grandchildren and 64 Great Grandchildren.
