He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Lyman Stewart and Rebecca Garlick Stewart; his spouse Rhea Anderson; and his children, Leslie Peay (Paul), Cliff Stewart (Leslie), Mark Stewart (Lola) and Becky Leek (Tom). He was also cherished by 16 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
