He was predeceased by: his mothers, June Lamont Nelson and Winifred Phillips. He is survived by: his wife Alaine; his daughters, Valerie Russell (Bill), Amee Denny (Aaron) and Kelene Baxter (James); and his siblings, Patricia McGuire and Phillips Nelson (Karla). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, one great-grandson and many close friends.
