He was predeceased by: his parents, Heinz and Marta; his stepfather Rubio; his sister Helga; and his former wife Joan.

He is survived by: his children, Robert, Tanya and Shane; his wife Lynda; and his brother Jürgen. He is also survived by his 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
