He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorenzo Nielsen and Bess B. Probst Nielsen; his siblings, Robert, Richard, Wayne Nielsen and Lois Franklin; his son-in-law Jerry Sieracki; and his great grandchildren, Tyler Evans and Zeth Mortensen.

He is survived by: his wife Jean Nielsen; his daughter Robyn Loya; and his stepchildren, John Mortensen (Merleen) and Linda Sieracki. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.
