He was predeceased by: his mother Dora Woods Shaffer; his spouses, Carol Hadley and Barta Caldwell; his parent Larkin Richard Shaffer; and his siblings, Vernon, Vera Westergard, Kenneth, Effie Wilde, Carmen Gleed, Jasper, Lenna Oyler, Ned, Iva Godfrey and JoAnn Gunnell.
He is survived by: his children, Gloria Taggart (Timothy) of Taylorsville, UT, Neil Shaffer (LuAnn) of Weston, ID, Diane Waller (Gregory) of North Logan, UT, Dan Thomas (Linda) of Vernal, UT and Marlayne Lyman of Kaysville, UT. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
