He was predeceased by: his parents, David Simmons and Isabella Simmons; and his son Mark Christian. He is survived by: his wife Hanne; and his children, Michael, Rebecca (Tim Walden), Diane and Kathryn (Stephen Newell). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and seven siblings.
