She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred Sylvester and Lorraine Shirey; her siblings, Bill Sylvester, Sharon and Patty Sylvester; and her grandson DJ Lindsey.

She is survived by: her husband Kent W. Cherrey; her children, Carrie Cuoghi (Travis), Patrick Mulligan (Lita) and Elise Peterson; and her grandchildren, Jessica Moreno, Dustin Cuoghi and Cody Peterson. She is also survived by 2 great grandchildren, 6 half sisters, and 1 brother.

“I am JoAnn's uncle. After many years of lost contact, in 2014 we did reconnect with calls and texts. My dad nicknamed her Pollywog and we enjoyed laughing about that. I understand that she was a fine artist, but I never saw here work, except she did a painting of my brother Tom, that hangs in the home of her brother, Bill. Her childhood memories were painful and so I pray that she now rests in peace. May God bless her soul. Unc”
