He was predeceased by: his son Christopher James Ortiz; his sister Dora; his wife Maxine Ortiz; and his sister Kathryn. He is survived by: his former wife Thelma Cantu; his siblings, Veronica Way, Angie Bonell, Phyllis, Carter and Anthony Ortiz (Sue); his godson David Montano (Renee); his children, Stephanie Ortiz Wimmer (Ferron), Jennifer Ortiz Helzer, Barbara L. Hunt, James W. Hunt (Diana), Gene Hunt (Germany) and Christopher Hunt (Shel); his grandchildren, Neil Packwood, Gabrielle Helzer Nassif (Sam) and Mikaela Helzer; and his great grandchild Jax Nassif. He is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews.
