He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby Elaine Bishop; and his siblings, Roy, Howard, Jean and Elsie.

He is survived by: his children, Peggy Wagers (Ray), Clark Bird (Karen), Alan Bird (Lorille) and Carrie Gause (David); and his siblings, Lillian Cook and Virgil Bird. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
