He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Thomas and Lilas Thomas; and his son Mark Eugene. He is survived by: his wife Doris; his children, Tracy Byram, Martin Thomas, David Gill (Dawn), Michael Gill (Leslie) and Diana Greene; and his brother Norman Thomas (Cheryl). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
