With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joseph S. Gates in Salt Lake City, Utah, born in Des Moines, Iowa, who passed away on December 6, 2022 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Leslie Dean Gates and Ella Wheeler Hicks; his wife Connee Clemens; his daughters, Jennifer Gates Gourary (John) and Karin Gates Johnson (Brooke); and his grandchildren, Kaileigh, Justin, Bennett, Julia, Ashton and Walker. He was also cherished by two nieces and four nephews.
In lieu of flowers, you might consider a donation to the Natural History Museum of Utah or the Huntsman Cancer Center in Joe's honor.
