It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Sharon Schmidt Van Couwenberghe (Sandy, Utah), born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on July 26, 2019, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Marie Schmidt and Edmund Schmidt. She is survived by: her husband Michael; her children, William (Elizabeth), Robert (Maxine), Julia Anderson, Angela Neeley (David) and Veronica Mega (Matt); her brother Jerome Schmidt (Pat); her grandchildren, Annalena, Anthony, Annemarie, Sarah, Maria, Douglas (Holly), Elizabeth, Alyssa, Jacklyn and Paul; and her great grandchildren, Karson, Joseph and Islay.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Huntsman Cancer or the Humane Society in memory of Joan.
