He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Bach Petersen and Georgette Filimon; his wife Laura Noreen Baird; his grandchildren, Kasandra and Kaleb; and his siblings, Steven, Linda, Kathy and Kevin.

He is survived by: his children, Jared Petersen (Mindy), Noelle Petersen, Christian Petersen (Susan), Bradley Petersen (Jodi) and Cindy Petersen; and his grandchildren, Skylar, Izac, Jacob, Michael, Hattie, Kai, Dutch, Anson, Gus, Ryker, Thomas and Owen.
