He was predeceased by : his son Brian. He is survived by : his wife Jeanette J. Herndon; and his children, Keith Herndon, Vicki Chase, Cymri Herndon, Joshua Herndon and Eric Herndon. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory.
