She was predeceased by: her parents, William Hairston and Minnie Ethel Hairston (Petty); and her siblings, Mary Jane Millner (Hairston), Howard Lee Hairston, William Hairston, Jr. (Boy) and Eugene Hairston.
She is survived by: her daughter Frances Elizabeth Stone; her husband James Melvin Stone; her children, Byron Stone (Lishia) of Kennesaw, GA, Veronica King, Genie Petty (Lafayette) of Greensboro, NC and Stacey M. Stone of Charlotte, NC.; and her brother Jacob Hairston of Danville, VA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.
