It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Swinney Akers of Axton, Virginia, who passed away on July 31, 2021, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert J. Swinney and Carrie Marie Payne Swinney; her husband Lonnie Edward Akers; and her siblings, Bonnie Sawyers, James Swinney and Noah Swinney.
She is survived by: her sons, Tony Akers (Sarah), Toby Akers (Anna) and Tracy Akers (Krystal); her siblings, Maxine Mays (Steve), Charles Swinney (Mildred), Samuel Swinney (Karen), Marshall Swinney (Wanda) and Glen Swinney (Sandra); her grandchildren, Tyler Akers (Jessie), Destiny Akers, Trace Akers, Tamara Akers, Kyle Brooks and Kamille Akers; and her great grandchildren, Kamden Akers, Adalyn Akers and Braeson Akers. She is also survived by eight step-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
