It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vallie Mae Hylton Mankins of Bassett, Virginia, who passed away on August 13, 2024, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Hylton and Jettie Lawson Hughes; her husband William "Lester" Mankins; and her sister Virgie Hylton. She is survived by: her daughters, Mary Ethylene Tatum (Bobby) and Charlene Bryant (Kent); her grandchildren, Shannon Lynnette Townsend (Alex) and Brandon W. Horton of Fieldale, Virginia; and her stepgrandson Robby Tatum (Renee). She is also survived by one great granddaughter; and two step grandchildren.
