She is survived by : her husband Kermit Owens; her son Dewayne Owens; her siblings, Dorothy Pearcy, Elmer Bledsoe and Jerry Bledsoe; her children, Tina Owens Hood (Allen) of Kingsport, TN and Jason Allen Owens of Blackwater, VA; her daughter-in-law Michelle Owens of Surgoinsville, TN; her grandchildren, Ashley Bird (Tyler), Alex McNew, Miranda Owens Estep (Tyler) and Meekah Owens; her great grandchild Keegan Bird; and her siblings, Lettie Carter of Blackwater, VA, Lucille Mendenhall, Marie Lawson, Shirley Bledsoe (Jack), Elsie Childress (Mike), Regina Tilley and Claude Bledsoe, Jr. (Patty). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, it was the wish of Thelma that donations be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital or to the Kingsport Cancer Center at Allendale.
