He was predeceased by: his parents, Maudie Henegar Sampson and William Jackson Sampson; and his son Barry Michael Sampson. He is survived by: his wife Martha Layton Sampson; his daughters, Tina S. Stein (Johnny) of South Carolina, Terri S. Dunn (Steve) of Chatham, Virginia and Tracy S. Hall (Tony) of Dry Fork; and his sister Betty Sampson of Roanoke. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
