He was predeceased by: his father Paul Smith; and his sister Naomi Smith. He is survived by: his wife Patsy Smith; his children, April Hyder (Tim Necessary), Kristy Patterson (Cody) and Nathan Smith of Bristol, VA; and his mother Melba Smith of Piney Flats.
