She was predeceased by: her husband Henry F. Yates; her parents, Joseph Burke Hughes and Vera Connell Hughes; her children, Robert "Bobby" Yates, Susan Clark and Martha Guthrie; her grandson Daniel Guthrie; her siblings, Sammie Alexsuk and Donald Hughes; and her son-in-law Mike Guthrie.
She is survived by: her son Fredrick Michael Yates of Brookneal; her grandchildren, Makenzie Taylor (Josh) of Nathalie, Jennifer Edmonds (William) of Lynchburg, Matthew Yates (Angie) of Madison Heights, Nicole Smit (Brian) and Claire Tsukashima (Shiro) of Japan; her great grandchildren, Scout Taylor, Estella Short, Anna Smit, Jacob and Ben Yates; her stepgrandchildren, Shawna Sanders and Kirk Sanders; her siblings, Mickie Hancock (Max) and William Hughes (Martha); and her caregiver Barbara Baker.
